Buyers searching for Egyptian home appliances exporters, cable makers or auto-parts suppliers will find a sector that has just set a record. Egypt's engineering and electronics exports reached $6.5 billion in 2025, up 13% from $5.7bn in 2024, and every month of the year showed growth, according to the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE)2. This guide explains what the sector makes, who buys it, which large plants are export-focused, and how to check a supplier.
The numbers: a record year and a strong start to 2026
National trade data put engineering and electronics exports at $6.468bn in 2025, out of total non-oil exports of $48.567bn1. Growth was broad-based across the sector2:
| Sub-sector | Growth in 2025 |
|---|---|
| Machinery and equipment | +30%2 |
| Electrical and electronic industries | +23%2 |
| Auto components | +15%2 |
| Household appliances | +15%2 |
| Transport equipment | +14%2 |
| Metals | +273%2 |
The momentum carried into 2026. February 2026 was the best month in the sector's history at $709.7m, up 37.6%, bringing January–February exports to $1.187bn against $1bn a year earlier4. Auto components grew 43% and electrical and electronics 20.8% in that month, while metals rose 77%4.
Who buys Egyptian engineering goods
In 2025 the largest single markets were Saudi Arabia ($855m), the UK ($551m), Turkey ($550m) and the UAE ($377m)3. Beyond those, the export council lists a wide spread of destinations2:
- Europe: Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Hungary.
- Arab markets: Iraq, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait and Syria.
- Africa: Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Senegal and Zimbabwe.
- Asia and the Americas: China, Azerbaijan and the United States.
Early 2026 shipments also went to Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria and Argentina, and the council has planned trade missions to Tunisia, the Netherlands and Latin America4.
For European buyers, industrial goods from Egypt enter the EU without tariffs under the EU-Egypt Association Agreement in force since 2004, provided they meet the rules of origin7. Egypt's membership of the pan-Euro-Mediterranean origin system since 2013 also allows inputs from other member countries to count towards origin7.
What Egypt makes
Home appliances
Household appliances grew 15% in 20252. Egypt makes refrigerators, cookers, washing machines, water heaters, air conditioners and small appliances for both the local market and export. Foreign investment is adding export capacity. Beko, for example, started building a $100m plant in the 10th of Ramadan industrial zone in December 2022. It was planned to make about 1.5 million cookers and refrigerators a year, with more than 60% of output for Europe, the Middle East and Africa5.
Cables and electrical equipment
Electrical and electronic industries were among the fastest-growing lines at +23% in 20252. Egypt exports power and building cables, transformers, switchgear, lighting and electrical accessories, much of it to Arab and African utilities and contractors. Buyers should ask which international standard each product is tested to and whether the test reports come from an accredited laboratory.
Auto components
Auto components grew 15% in 2025 and 43% in February 202624. Wire harnesses are a leading line. Japan's Sumitomo Electric employs more than 12,000 people in Egypt and exports over €300m a year. Its 150,000 m² plant in 10th of Ramadan City, which received a Golden License in September 2023 and started operating by the end of 2024, supplies global carmakers including Toyota6.
Metals
Metals were the fastest-growing line, up 273% in 20252. EU importers of iron, steel and aluminium products must remember that these goods fall under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, whose definitive phase began on 1 January 20268. Ask suppliers for verified embedded-emissions data before you contract.
How to vet an Egyptian engineering supplier
- Factory or assembler? Check how much is made in-house and how much is imported kits. This affects quality control and also your rules-of-origin claim.
- Certification. Ask for ISO 9001 and the product certificates required in your market, for example CE marking for the EU or the relevant Gulf conformity mark.
- Test reports. Get reports from an accredited laboratory for safety, energy efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility where relevant.
- Proof of origin. If you claim duty-free entry, confirm the supplier can issue the right origin document, such as EUR.1 or EUR-MED for Europe.
- Spare parts and warranty. For appliances, agree spare-parts supply and warranty handling in writing.
- Pre-shipment inspection for the first orders.
Getting a comparable quotation
Engineering quotes from different factories are often hard to compare. Ask every supplier to quote on the same basis:
- The same Incoterm and port, for example FOB Alexandria or Sokhna, so freight is not hidden in one price and missing from another.
- A full bill of materials for key items, such as compressor brand in a refrigerator or conductor material and insulation type in a cable.
- Packaging and labelling in your language and to your market's rules, including energy labels where required.
- Tooling and moulds. If you need a custom design, agree who owns the moulds and how their cost is spread across orders.
- Price validity and currency. Many inputs are imported, so ask how long a price holds and which costs are linked to the exchange rate or metal prices.
A clear request for quotation saves weeks of back-and-forth and makes it easier to see which supplier is really cheaper once quality and lead time are counted.

How Egypt Rise helps
Egypt Rise is a free bilingual B2B platform. Appliance makers, cable producers and component suppliers can publish an export catalogue with HS codes, minimum order quantities, capacity, certificates and Incoterms. Buyers can search Egyptian manufacturers and products and contact suppliers directly, with no commission. Investors can also browse investment opportunities. Engineering firms can create a free business portal to present their range to international buyers in English and Arabic.
